At the end of April, DID-IT visited Jacob Beeker from the Eyckenstein organic farm in Bilthoven. It was a follow-up to the meeting in Voorthuizen of 10 organic farmers with Jersey cows and bulls. The cooperation between DID-IT, Eyckenstein and these farmers is about raising the bull calves, instead of having the bulls slaughtered for dog food after a few weeks. The Jersey bulls provide exclusive meat that is very tasty, because of the breed but also because they grow up outdoors in a natural way and only with forage and grass. After six months, they can go to Eyckenstein where the bulls graze farther out and live to be at least 2 years old and finally be delivered as exclusive Jersey meat to organic stores or restaurants.
