On June 15, the wooden sailing ship LUN ll arrived at her home port, the NDSM shipyard on the IJ after a sea trip to Santa Marta in Colombia and again to Amsterdam. On board, 18 tons of Colombian coffee, packed in 70 kg jute bags. The journey took 3 months and the 5 crew members were sometimes relieved at the intermediate ports.
At the NDSM shipyard in Amsterdam North, the quay of Kaap de Groene Hoop, an initiative to offer zero-emission ships a place to load and unload, including the ships for Greenpeace, with a shipyard, hospitality and other initiatives based on sustainable, human and environmentally friendly living, a multi-faceted project for an innovative and sustainable future.
DID-IT was involved in the initiative by the Kaap de Groene Hoop to show that it is also possible to transport emission-free on a small scale and was present at the reception of the LUN ll. Then there was a visit to Amsterdam Roasters, on the quay around the corner from the Kaap de Groene Hoop where the cargo of coffee is unloaded.
Colombian organic coffee comes from farmers who get a fair price for coffee and is sold to companies and individuals via Kaap Koffie.
